Before and After: Home Remodels
Our Remodeling Process
We tailor every project to every individual homeowner. We work with you throughout the process to make sure you understand what is going to be done, when it is going to be done, and what you need to do to make it happen.
Step 1: Initial Meeting and Home Visit
We start by welcoming you to our offices to discuss the vision of your remodel. We will also schedule a time for our team to visit your home and learn your preferences.
What We Discuss
- Getting copies of your current home floor plan or drawing up a new one based on the home visit
- Your remodel wishlist
- Preliminary discussion about your budget
- Your financing options, if necessary
This is the time to share your vision. If you have pictures of what you are looking for, please bring them in so we can conceptualize your dream remodel.
Step 2: Conceptual Plan Review, Pricing and Finalization
During this meeting, we will review scale plans of your remodel and you will have a chance to provide feedback towards the architectural design Once we get your approval on the conceptual plan, we will define the scope of the project, as well as any allowances in your budget.
After we confirm your plan, we will draw up the construction cost sheet and material specifications. If our price exceeds your budget, we will review and re-price the cost sheet. We give you 30 days to accept the finalized cost so we can sign contracts and get started!
For extensive remodels, we may need to work with you to get permitting and approvals from local authorities before creating the cost sheet.
Step 3: Sign Contracts and Place Deposit
We can begin the remodeling process once you sign the remodeling contract. You will simply need to sign the construction cost sheet, specifications, and contracts, as well as put down your deposit on the project.
Step 4: Demolition and Structural Changes
We will work with you to schedule the best times to do our demolition. We do our best to communicate with both you and your neighbors to minimize disruptions from construction noise and activity.
Depending on the extent of your remodel, you may have to move out during construction, so it is likely you will not be anywhere near the demolition noise.
Once the dust has settled, we will start any structural changes we need to make to your home. This includes moving and constructing new walls, adding or enlarging windows and doors, adding support beams, and building the frame for any home additions.
Step 5: Rough Mechanical and Electrical Systems
If we did any major structural work, this is when we begin reinstalling or adjusting any mechanical elements in the remodel area, including HVAC, ductwork, electrical wiring, and any smart home systems. Before we move on, we will do a walkthrough so you can review our progress.
Step 6: Installing Walls and Fixtures
Now that the framework of your mechanical and electrical systems are in place, we can reinstall your insulation, drywall, approved wall textures, doors, windows, trim, flooring, and plumbing fixtures. Once all these intermediate elements are in, we will wrap up the installation of your mechanical and electrical systems.
Step 7: Finishing Touches
This is the point when we’re coming to the end of your remodel. We will install all of your lighting, appliances, bathroom hardware, mirrors, glass, and cabinets. This is also when we tackle any landscaping, if it is included in your remodel.
Step 8: Final Walkthrough and Warranty
Before we declare your home officially remodeled, we do a final walkthrough of the remodel to make sure you are completely satisfied with our work. You will get details on any financial wrap up, the details of your Paradisa Homes warranty, and a freshly remodeled home in pristine condition.
Remember, every home remodel is different. The actual steps may vary depending on your project scope and focus.
